The car’s engine overheating can be quite the scary sight at first, but if you have the basic knowledge on how to deal with the situation, you should be fine.
Items to have in your car for this situation;
1. Antifreeze & coolant.
2. Gloves and
3. Some engine oil
What to do:
Before anything else immediately turn off your car and open the car hood. Allow the engine to cool down for a bit before checking anything.
Now use the dipstick to check the oil level. If the level doesn’t reach the “full” mark then it is low and should be filled until it does.
Check the coolant level in the reservoir next to the radiator and also fill as needed. There could be a leak if the coolant was indeed low, just check around your vehicle and on the ground for any signs of leakage. If this is in fact the case you’ll have to take your car to a mechanic for it to be checked and repaired.
In any way, it’s always a good idea to have a qualified mechanic check your vehicle when you are experiencing any problems like this.
